Young Alumni Achievement Award – 2019 Winner, Ryan Hreljac

Read more about Ryan Hreljac on King’s Community.

Ryan Hreljac’s, BA’14, life has been one of persistence, dedication, and significant contribution to communities of all kinds – local, national, and global. Prior to beginning his Bachelor of Arts in International Development Studies and Political Science at the University of King’s College, Ryan had been working through his own charitable foundation, Ryan’s Well, bringing clean water to communities across the world. His many successes have been consistently underlined with a deep sense of caring and responsibility – both to the communities that he works to help, and to the future generations of leaders that he hopes to inspire.

Since its beginning in 2001, Ryan’s Well has helped raise millions of dollars and built over 927 water projects and 1,120 latrines, providing clean water to more than 836,000 people in 17 developing nations around the world. This incredible work can be attributed, at the root, to Ryan Hreljac’s young, wide-eyed vision that a better world is possible, and his unwavering commitment to actualizing that vision. He has since been recognized with over 30 awards and distinctions, among them the youngest ever recipient of the Order of Ontario, and the Canada’s Volunteer Awards Emerging Leader recognition.
