Polish novelist Eva Stachniak will read from her best-selling novel, The Winter Palace, on 23 May 2013, 6.00 PM, in the KTS Lecture Hall , 2nd floor of the New Academic Building. A book signing will follow the reading.

Eva Stachniak was born in Wroclaw, Poland, and came to live in Canada in 1981. Her debut novel, Necessary Lies , won the Amazon.com/Books in Canada First Novel Award in 2000. 

Stachniak’s latest novel, The Winter Palace, is based on the early life of Catherine the Great and has been a bestseller in Canada, Poland, and Germany. A Globe and Mail review is available here. 

Eva Stachniak lives in Toronto is she is working on the sequel novel about Catherine the Great, entitled Empress of the Night.
