Daniel MacIsaac (BJ 07): From Iqaluit to Nairobi

Daniel MacIsaac (BJ 07) is a man of extremes. Or so it would seem.

After graduating from King’s with his BJ, he went off, he says, “to navigate life and the CBC!” He started his journalism career in Russia and then spent several years in Eastern Europe, “before returning to school at UKC for broadcasting and to become truly multimedia”.

His stint with CBC North in Iqaluit came to an end in the summer of 2012 and in October he began a six-month internship as a public information advisor with UNHCR (the refugee agency of the United Nations). “It’s with a program through CANDEM,” he explains, “an agency I’ve worked with in the past to go on election-monitoring missions.”

Being in Nairobi, he says, is “something completely different. I am still getting used to all the security and guns and what’s allowed and what isn’t.”
