King's Grads Honoured at CAJ and Atlantic Community Newspaper Awards

On Saturday May 14, the 2010 King’s Journalism Investigative Workshop class took home the CAJ/CNW Award for Student Excellence at the Canadian Association of Journalists Awards in Ottawa.

Congrats go to Aly Thomson, Jonathan Charlton, Geoff Davies, Casey Dorrell, Mike Gorman, Alan Hale, Kathleen Hunter, Jessica Ilse, Laura MacKenzie, Adam Miller, Jennifer Pawluk, Lesley Pike, Vincenzo Ravina, Lucy Scholey, Kyle Wells and James Whitehead, who were honoured for their project Terminal Disease.

Workshop member Jonathan Charlton was also honoured at the Atlantic Community Newspapers Association Better Newspaper Awards for Best News Story for his piece about a dispute between a local seafood plant and 54 workers from Thailand over unpaid wages. Jon currently works at the Eastern Graphic in Prince Edward Island.

Sara Keddy (BJH ’94) won Best Resources Story for her piece on the pork industry and the demise of the food industry in Nova Scotia.
