At the 2016 Canadian Online Publishing Awards on November 7, the School of Journalism‘s online news portal The Signal won two medals in the B2B/Academic division. The Signal won gold for Best Academic Project, and silver for Best Editorial Packaging in a division that comprises other schools, trade, and association publications.
The Signal’s reporters and editors are students in the Digital Reporting Workshop course.
Content for the Signal is produced by students in the One-year Bachelor of Journalism, and those above first year in our four-year Bachelor of Journalism Honours program.
The Signal was launched just over a year ago, in September 2015, and primarily covers issues effecting residents in Halifax and Nova Scotia.
