Angela Johnson is a part-time instructor for the Foundations of Journalism Program (JOUR1001). She obtained her bachelor of applied arts in radio and television from Ryerson University in Toronto.
For nearly two decades, Angela worked for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as a television journalist and producer in Halifax and Toronto. She created, produced, and hosted the television series “Our Community”, which featured stories from diverse communities in Nova Scotia. It aired on CBC TV in Halifax, with segments airing nationally on the network’s “Absolutely Canadian” during the 1999-2000 television season.
Angela has also produced television content for the Women’s Television Network, Discovery Channel, and Vision TV under her personal production company Mirabliss Media Productions
In 2004, Angela joined the Nova Scotia Government’s communications agency, Communications Nova Scotia. She currently works with the Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage as a communications professional. Prior to this, she helped form the strategic direction of the province’s Office of African Nova Scotian Affairs. On a part-time basis she is the managing editor for Black to Business magazine, a quarterly publication of the Black Business Initiative.
