The King’s Chorus will be joined by members of Capella Regalis, soloists, percussion, and Paul Halley on the organ, to present the hauntingly beautiful music of the Orthodox traditions to the east. In the lush acoustics of the Cathedral, and singing from each corner of the building, the Chorus will perform music for the Annunciation from some of the Russian masters (Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Kalinnikov), as well as that of the “Modern Mystics” (Górecki, Tavener, and Pärt). The concert will also feature the Canadian premier of Paul Halley’s Requiem for Dmitri, written on the occasion of the death of his old friend, the founder of the Dmitri Pokrovsky Ensemble.
