The "Pre-My-Valentine" musical showcase, featuring King’s students and alumni, will take place at the Carleton Music Bar & Grill on Wednesday, 12 February 2014, 8.00 PM. This event is free and open to the public.

Emcee for the evening is King’s alumnus and East Coast Music Award winner Ben Caplan (BA ’10). Thomas McCallum and Friends (Hunter McLellan, Karis Tees, Katharine Harrison, and Meliisa Legeyt), all students at King’s will be performing to launch their debut CD, "Crocus Song".

Dr Thomas Curran, associate professor of humanities at King’s, has organised the event. "These students are so talented, it is really amazing to see," he says. "This is the third year we have organised a showcase for the musicians at King’s. This is the first year we have taken the event off campus and opened it to the public."

In the autumn of 2013, King’s was voted among the top Canadian universities for college music by CBC Radio 3’s listeners. With just over 1,000 students, King’s is widely known as offering one of Canada’s best undergraduate experiences and attracting students who are strong academic performers with wide-ranging interests outside the classroom.
