Grammy award-winning musician Paul Halley directs the King’s College Chapel Choir in Bach’s great masterwork, the St John Passion. Halley describes it as Bach’s "most intense and dramatic work."

First performed in Leipzig in 1724, the St John Passion is a dramatic representation of the Passion, as told in the Gospel of John.  Some up-and-coming young soloists join the choir for this performance, including Marcio de Oliveira as Evangelist, baritone Mark Wilkinson as Jesus, baritone Edmund Milly as Pilate, soprano Dawn Bailey and altos Sarah Myatt and Andrew Pickett. The chamber orchestra Ensemble Regale, under the direction of David Greenberg, consists of top instrumentalists from Eastern Canada and beyond, including viola da gamba player Susie Napper from Montreal

CBC Radio 2 (102.7 FM) will record the Halifax performance of the St John Passion and the concert will be broadcast on Choral Concert on Sunday, 14 April 2013, as part of ‘Bach Month’.
