Another chapter was written in the history of Halifax’s best-kept-secret-rivalry last night as the Blue Devils of The University of King’s College squared off against cross-town rivals, the Mystics of Mount Saint Vincent University, in what would be a thriller from start to finish. The Kingsmen, led by senior guard Jayden Nordin (26 pts), started the game hot, leading by as many as 18, before entering halftime ahead 14 points. The Mystics rallied in the second half, fueled by substitute Mo Abukar (25 pts) and Brody Blakney (21 pts). By the start of the 4th quarter King’s lead dwindled to 3, before being overtaken by the Mysics, who outscored the Blue Devils 26-13 in the games final period, with the final score resting at 91-101. Despite the loss, Blue Devils players had some of their best performances of the season with Nordin, Gillett, Zorogole, Janday, and Hassan all scoring double figures; and standout rookie guard Owen Porter chipping in with 7 points and 7 rebounds. Elsewhere MSVU guard Campbell Colpitts, formerly of UKC, recorded 11 points on his first trip back to King’s after transferring in the fall.
