Kim Kierans takes journalism skills to Philippines and Cambodia

Professor of journalism and university vice president Kim Kierans will leave for the Philippines and Cambodia on 30 June to take up her annual teaching commitments. She is an adjunct faculty member of the Konrad Adenauer Asian Center of Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila University and will be teaching an Advanced Reporting course in its master’s program. This will be her seventh year teaching there.

“It is very humbling to teach journalists in Asia,” she says. “There are great obstacles facing journalists in other parts of the world. The program helps to spark a higher commitment and best practices, which are vital to the integrity of news in civil society.”

In Cambodia, Kierans, a director of Cambodia News, will meet with journalists from the Club of Cambodian Journalists.

She will return to campus on 5 August.
