New Student Award Announced

The province of Nova Scotia has given a gift to the University of King’s College to commemorate the Governor General of Canada’s visit to the province from June 1 to June 2, 2011. The award will be titled The Governor General of Canada His Excellency the Right Honorable David Johnston Award for Student Leadership in Community Engagement.

The gift is a grant of $1,500 and will put towards an academic scholarship. The intent of the scholarship is to support His Excellency’s mandate to reinforce learning and support a nation where all Canadians have the opportunity to learn and nuture their talents.
The award recipient must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant who has completed the Foundation Year Programme and is entering second year at King’s. The student must have demonstrated financial need and demonstrated exemplary leadership and community engagement during their first year at the College.

We thank the province and His Excellency for providing an opportunity for academic growth that also rewards student involvement in College life.
