Allan MacDonald Allan MacDonald

A Cape Bretoner born and raised, Allan returned to Nova Scotia in 2018 after having lived and worked for twenty five years in Vancouver, where he got his start as a writer with the National Magazine Award-winning activist journal, Adbusters. Inspired by the experience, he chose “activist” over “journal” and began working as a writer with a Vancouver-based fundraising firm that specialized in non-profit organizations, where he was “lucky and privileged” to have as clients global groups such as Amnesty International, Oxfam and Unicef. While he has worked across the activist spectrum, with specialties in environment and health care, Allan has also worked with a number of universities including UBC and Emily Carr University of Art and Design. He is also a CMA Award-winning writer (Canadian Marketing Association) and always brings his communications knowledge to his fundraising copy. He is thrilled to have landed at King’s as he views education as “perhaps the most important cause of all.”
