Katrina Beach is a principal in assurance services at the Halifax office of Grant Thornton LLP.
She graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science, and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia, the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, and the Illinois Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Ms Beach has over 12 years of experience in conducting complex assurance engagements in many sectors, including health care, not-for-profits, universities, government business enterprises, and financial services. She is the Nova Scotia lead for Grant Thornton’s health care services practice and has considerable experience of providing audit services to this industry.
Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Ms Beach spent four years as the vice-president of finance and administration for Cameron Corporation Limited. Her experience includes overseeing the finance function of the parent company and its subsidiaries, preparing information for and reporting to the board of directors, and helping to prepare key analysis for decision makers. While working for Cameron Corporation Limited, she had direct responsibility for several audits, changes in information systems, and she led a public offering.
From 1995 to 2001, Ms Beach worked for another large chartered accounting firm as a senior manager in its assurance practice prior to joining one of her largest clients. She was responsible for several clients, ranging from large public companies to small not-for-profits in the health care, post-secondary education, municipal government, and nursing home sectors.
Ms Beach has volunteered and been involved with numerous events and groups, including as team leader and participant with Bust A Move (a joint fundraiser for the IWK Health Centre and Queen Elizabeth II Foundations); treasurer for the AAA Eastern Heat Novice Minor Hockey; and coach of the Dartmouth United Soccer Club.
