Sophia DeBruin Sophia DeBruin

Sophia just completed her first year at King’s and is studying Classics and Contemporary Studies. Raised on a farm in rural Ontario, she is currently experiencing all the wonders big city life that Halifax has to offer. Sophia never had the opportunity to visit King’s before coming for Foundation Year Program (FYP), so her first taste of King’s was move in day in 2017 listening to previous Chaplain Fr. Thorne’s welcome speech on the steps of the library. From the moment Fr. Thorne began his speech by stating, ‘Welcome to King’s where wizards ride motorcycles and magic is real’, she knew she was in the right place.

Having fallen in love with King’s and the communal learning style of the Foundation Year Program, Sophia now considers King’s her home. She is currently working in the Registrar’s office as the student tour guide for the summer, and loves sharing her excitement for King’s with prospective students. Her favourite sections of FYP were sections one and two, her favourite animals are sheep, and her favourite place on campus is the top floor of the King’s library.

Send her an email if you would like to book a tour or if you have any general questions about life at King’s.
