Varsity Head Coach – Women’s Volleyball

Department: Athletics
Reports To: Athletics Director
Employment Type: Contract, renewed annually
Salary: Yearly stipend
Expected Work Term: Ongoing, starting immediately

Summary of the role

The UKC Athletics Department is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to lead our women’s varsity volleyball program as the Head Coach. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for volleyball, a commitment to the development of student-athletes and the ability to foster a positive team culture both on and off the court. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our student-athletes while contributing to the overall success of our athletic program.

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Plan and conduct regular practices
  • Provide individualized instruction and feedback to student-athletes
  • Prepare game plans and strategies for opponents, including scouting reports and player evaluations
  • Lead team meetings, film sessions and other activities
  • Promote academic success, good sportsmanship and character development
  • Collaborate with athletic department staff and school administrators
  • Work with the Athletics Department to manage team logistics, including scheduling, travel arrangements, equipment inventory and budgeting
  • Uphold all school and league policies, rules and regulations
  • Cultivate a reliable recruitment and player development strategy to maintain competitive parity
  • Fundraise and engage alumni–work with the athletics department and alumni to organize and facilitate team fundraisers
  • Monitor and support student athletes in their academic journey
  • Assemble and manage the Women’s Volleyball coaching staff
  • Be available to work evenings and weekends during the academic year

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary degree required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience coaching as an Assistant or Head Coach with a proven track record of success. Coaching experience at a post-secondary institution would be considered an asset. Previous experience coaching women’s sport considered an asset.
  • NCCP Volleyball Performance Coach certified or a commitment to obtain upon hire
  • CPR/First Aid or willingness to obtain upon hire
  • Experience as a varsity athlete or working experience in an athletics department considered an asset
