On April 1, weather permitting, King’s students caught in the Quad should be prepared for a thorough soaking or a swift retreat! Armed with an abundance of water balloons, students engage in a the traditional, annual, full-blown water balloon fight. Before the event, a team photo will be taken for each side. The facilitators will then go over the rules with each team after their photo is taken.

What to Expect:

  • Alex Hall participants will gather on the Alex Hall side of the Library Lawn.

  • The Bays participants will gather on the Gym side of the Library Lawn.

  • Day Students are welcome and they can join either team.

  • The event will go quicker than most people expect. We do our best to provide a large number of water balloons, but there is a limited supply, the event ends when all the balloons have been thrown.

No one can throw a balloon until the Facilitators give the signal. The signal will be in the form of the song, “Ride of the Valkyries” on a large speaker in the quad.

Each team will get a couple of tubs of water balloons for their side. There will be two tubs of water balloons in the centre. Both teams must use up their supply of water balloons first before they run for the centre balloons.

Participants automatically agree to stay after the event for 10-15 minutes to help pick up the water balloon pieces from the lawn. Garbage bags and gloves will be provided.

 Safety:

  • Be respectful of others – no headshots or shots to other sensitive areas of the body.

  • Be mindful of your surroundings to avoid accidentally hitting, elbowing or running into others.

  • Wear footwear with ankle support as the lawn will get slippery.

We look forward to this event each year as it’s a great way to welcome Spring and blow off some steam from end-of-term assignments before final exam season!

An alternate date will be determined if the weather for April 1 is forecasted to be too cold (to avoid assisting residence-wide colds/flu during the exam period).
