Alumni heard the call and on a beautiful June 1, gathered in Prince Hall to enjoy a beautiful brunch, meet new friends, catch up with old friends and celebrate the achievements of others.
The day started with the traditional Alumni brunch and Alumni Awards ceremony that honoured the recipients of the Judge J. Elliott Hudson Distinguished Alumni Award, the Order of the Ancient Commoner, and the Meraki Kudos Young Alumni Achievement Award.
Yolana Wassersug, who not only is assistant registrar in the Registrar’s Office but a King’s grad herself, lent her expertise of all things King’s leading tours around campus to point out what’s new.
There was a tour planned for the King’s Library Treasure Room that proved so popular that a second was added and booked up! Thanks to Librarian Patricia Chalmers for her time and special expertise.
And, as President Lahey mentioned in his speech at the brunch, for the first time they were inviting everyone to the President’s Lodge for a tea and sherry hour to celebrate the graduates of 2014, 1999 and 1974 – previously, separate events. No one was sure what chaos would ensue when tea and sherry were mixed.
Finally, the day was rounded out by a gathering on the waterfront at the Garrison Brewery – on the first day of the Sail Grand Prix event, which made the city of Halifax hum with excitement.
