My education journey did not unfold in the way you would normally expect. I have studied at three Ontario Colleges, in three different specialized fields. Through this I have completed a Diploma in Tourism and Travel studies. I used this diploma as leverage to transfer my credits to Cape Breton University. At CBU, I was able to complete by Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management (BHTM) in under 2 years! During this period studying and working and managing mental health, personal and financial struggles, I have obtained over six years of hospitality experience and three years of management experience.
After completing my degree at CBU, I joined my partner in Halifax and committed to the King’s community in January 2023 as the Housing Administrator. I have since been promoted to the role of Residence and Conference Services Coordinator. I am excited to use my experience in hospitality and logistics to manage the housing applications and rooming assignments alongside the housing team to facilitate the best school year experience for our residents. In the summer months, I also manage the conference services department and the logistics of turning a residence into a hotel!
I know how stressful and strenuous post-secondary education can be, especially as a first-generation student. I am happy to have conversations with students as needed and am a great source of information on resources across King’s. Feel free to reach out or connect via email or phone, as I work remotely out of Ontario.
