Rhema Ferguson is a dedicated Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) specialist with a strong background in human rights, policy development and educational program facilitation. Currently serving as an Advisor for Human Rights & Equity Services at Dalhousie University, Rhema provides trauma-informed support and strategic leadership on issues of discrimination, harassment, and violence prevention.
Previously, as the Equity Officer at the University of King’s College, Rhema played a pivotal role in advancing equity, accessibility and inclusion across the institution. They provided critical support for historically underrepresented groups, including racialized, Indigenous, and 2SLGBTQ+ students, staff, and faculty, ensuring their voices were heard and needs addressed. Rhema also advised community members on matters related to discrimination, harassment and equity policies, offering guidance and resources while acting as an impartial advisor in complaint processes.
With a BA in Environmental & Sustainability Studies from Acadia University, specializing in Environmental Justice, Rhema brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in systemic change, conflict resolution and inclusive leadership. Their expertise is further demonstrated through contributions to provincial DEI initiatives, including the N.S. Post-Secondary Advisory Council for African Nova-Scotian & Black Students and other working groups.
Rhema is deeply committed to fostering safe, inclusive and equitable spaces in post-secondary education, leveraging their extensive experience in student support, policy transformation and institutional change.
