Acclaimed editor Jordan Ginsberg has been named Editor-in-Residence for this year’s MFA in Creative Nonfiction summer residency. The residency will take place at King’s College in Halifax from August 5-17, 2019.
Ginsberg is currently both the editorial director of Strange Light, a new Penguin Random House Canada book imprint, and also the editor-in-chief of Hazlitt, its eclectic, writer-centric award-winning online literary magazine.
Strange Light evolved from Hazlitt, Ginsberg says, “out of wanting to give the greatest platform and resources possible to authors who challenge us, whose writing by its nature defies easy categorization, and whose work is shot through with the beauty and horror and shock and delight that’s always drawn us to the most meaningful works of art in our lives.”
Strange Light currently has a dozen books launched or under contract.
During his time at the MFA summer residency, Ginsberg will conduct a master class and meet in small groups with senior students in the program.
