BA (Simon Fraser)

In 2014/15 I took part in the Foundation Year Program as a King’s student in residence, and immediately fell in love with the college and all it had to offer. After two years at King’s as both a student and student employee working with Conference Services, I decided to transfer to Simon Fraser University to finish my degree in English and Curriculum Development and Instruction. During the summers of 2016-2018, I worked as a wilderness camp counselor, trip logistics facilitator and wilderness first responder, and heavily considered changing education paths to focus on outdoor education. After graduating, I spent some time soul searching and trying to determine whether I wanted to continue with SFU’s Professional Development Program to become a teacher, but I felt drawn to come back to King’s for the second time in 2019 and became the Don of Alexandra Hall Lower Level. When Covid hit in 2020, I went back home to support my family, worked a bunch of odd jobs, including freelance developmental editing where I worked on five different novels, and spent time in a long-term care facility as a housekeeper and care aide. But I always felt like I had unfinished business at King’s, so when the opportunity arose to return to my favourite place as Housing Coordinator, I packed my bags and moved back across the country.

After taking 5 years, 4 major/minor combo switches, 3 universities, 2 major concussions, and 1 failed class to get my degree, I understand that university can be both equally exciting and stressful, and I strive to support all students in residence. As the liaison between Residence Life, Facilities and the GDI cleaning staff, I am your greatest advocate for all things involving the physical space of residence, so don’t be afraid to reach out!

How Can I Help: As the Housing Coordinator and primary liaison for the physical space, I can help with:

      • Follow up on maintenance or cleaning requests
      • Issues with a residence room or communal spaces on residence
      • Discussing a room change/movement request
      • Understanding Residence Guidelines or Housing Policies
      • Questions about room checks or what is/isn’t allowed in a residence room
      • Booking a common room or kitchen for a private gathering
      • Questions, concerns, or issues about Student Patrol

HobbiesI love all music and almost always have one song or another stuck in my head. I love the outdoors and being in nature, love re-reading short stories by Katherine Mansfield, rewatching my favourite comfort tv shows, participating in anything arts related, and am an absolute fantasy sports nut, often managing two to five teams every year.
