Several times each semester, President Lahey brings a King’s alum to have lunch in the lodge with current students. Together, they enjoy a delicious meal and casual conversation. This time, King’s alum Marie-France LeBlanc, BJ’92, joins the table.
Marie-France LeBlanc, BJ’92, is the President and CEO of the North End Community Health Centre, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping those experiencing poverty and homelessness by addressing the social determinants of health.
Marie-France has worked extensively in the private sector as a reporter, producer, PR Executive and entrepreneur. Then in 2010, Marie-France developed a special interest in Corporate Social Responsibility while working with large corporate clients. This led to a move to a career in the not-for-profit sector first working as Director of External Relations at the Canadian Cancer Society and then as CEO for Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia before joining NECHC. Currently, she is Chair of the Nova Scotia Association of Community Health Centers and a member of the Canadian Association of Community Health Centers.
Throughout her career, Marie-France has maintained a commitment to volunteerism and civic involvement. She was a founding board member of Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 and the Michaëlle Jean Foundation. Marie-France lives in Halifax with her husband and five children.
