Karen (she/her) is excited to be joining Kings as the Director of Equity and Community Supports.

She pursued an undergraduate degree in Commerce and Philosophy, followed by postgraduate certification in Public Policy and Management, both at Dalhousie University. Karen brings a wealth of experience in the public and impact sector, and a deep-rooted commitment to advancing equity within organizations and communities. Her work is grounded in creating spaces where all individuals can thrive, contribute and belong.

Karen joins King’s from the Department of Health and Wellness where she has helped shape culture transformation efforts at the systems level, most notably leading initiatives under Nova Scotia’s Health Equity Framework and the Health System Public Engagement Framework. She is known for her reflective, strategic and relational approach in mobilizing intention into action.

Outside of work, Karen is passionate about mentoring youth specifically in personal and professional development. She also explores multiple creative outlets such as photography, painting, craft-making and is currently taking on a new challenge learning how to sew. She can often be found chatting about social justice, her close-knit family, perspectives from different cultures or new food recipes.
