Panel on Early Modern Women

Early Modern Studies Students’ Society

From 7 – 8:30 p.m., students and faculty in the Early Modern Studies Program will present a panel on Early Modern women.

The first half of the panel will open with a discussion about some of the challenges inherent in the study of gender in early modernity. The Panelists will also share some of their favourite Early Modern women– like the anatomist Anna Morandie Manzoli, the philosopher Anne Conway, and the artist Lavinia Fontana.

In the second half of the panel, They’ll talk about why they have found the studying of early modern women personally important and discuss some of the pressures they face as women students and scholars.

All attendees are invited to a wine and cheese reception after the panel at 8:30 p.m.

At the event, the Early Modern Studies Society will be launching a short zine on Early Modern Woman, which can be purchased with a small donation. All donations will go towards Halifax Humanities.
