What book written before you were born should Canadians read and why?

King’s is excited to announce the question for this year’s Essay Writing Contest! We’re inviting all grade twelve students to answer the following question: what book written before you were born should Canadians read and why? To participate in the contest, students should pick one text (which can be a play, a graphic novel, or even a film) written by an author of any nationality, and answer the question in less than 1000 words focusing exclusively on their text. No additional research is necessary. The winner will receive all of their Foundation Year Program books for free at the King’s Co-op Bookstore, and the winning essay will be published on the King’s website.

To submit their essay, students must complete the form [PDF] and send it along with their essay to Kayleigh at kayleigh.shield@ukings.ca by December 1. Students can also submit questions to Kayleigh.

We wish students the best of luck with their writing!
