King’s Contemporary Studies Program and Upstream Music are excited to present a live-stream performance with musical accompaniment of the 1920 German expressionist film, “Der Golem” or “The Golem” on Thursday, October 29.

The event is in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the classic film. Paul Wagener’s recently restored 1920 “The Golem” retells the ancient Hebrew legend, widely considered the source of the Frankenstein myth, of the 16th century Talmudic rabbi who created the Golem to protect his people from anti-Semites. The Golem was one of the greatest achievements of the legendary UFA Studios, and remains an undeniable landmark in the evolution of the horror film.
