Holiday closure: The King's campus is closed from end of day December 20 to January 2.
King’s Women’s Volleyball have finalized the signing of Ava Perkins of Edmonton, Alta., ahead of the 2024-25 season. As a 5’11 middle blocker, Ava represents Nooks Volleyball Club and the Strathcona High School Lords and won the Edmonton City Championship in 2021, placed as runner up in 2o22 and finished 3rd overall in the Division 14A Provincial Championships. Perkins is joining a growing contingent of Alberta-based players, with Kallynne Klipmke, Kaitlyn Legault and Avalon Legault already accounted for in the Blue Devils roster.
Ava cites her visit to campus as a key factor in her decision to choose King’s. “When I came to visit the campus, the team was exceptionally welcoming and made me feel like I was already part of the King’s family. I believe the change in scenery will allow me to expand my knowledge and get outside my comfort zone. As UKC is the oldest chartered university in Canada, I feel incredibly honoured to attend and play for such a richly historic institution” says Perkins.
“I am very excited to embark on my post-secondary journey by joining King’s Foundation Year Program; I feel this will provide me with a unique experience for learning and growth, both educationally and personally. Nova Scotia/Halifax is truly beautiful — and as a girl from the Prairies, I am looking forward to anything ocean-related! I am so grateful and excited to join the King’s family, and I cannot wait to work towards my academic goals and the team’s athletic goals! ”
While playing volleyball, Ava intends to study in the Foundation Year Program, with an interest in pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, and eventually a degree in Law.
