Dr Simon Kow and a group of intrepid King’s students were photographed for the local paper in Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic, in June.
They were there as part of Dalhousie’s ‘Advanced Seminar in Baroque Culture’, offered by the theatre, history, and music departments and co-taught by Dr Kow. About two-thirds of the class consisted of King’s students.
The group was in Renaissance costume for the Festival of the Five-Petalled Rose, which is held for a few days every June in Krumlov. A photographer for the local newspaper, Ceskokrumlovsky, snapped the photo, which appeared on the front page of the 22/23 June 2013 issue. The group is wrongly described as being from Toronto University.
The King’s students in the photo are: (back row, centre) Amy Hurley; (middle row, second from right) Kate Middleton; (front row, starting from far right) Eleanor Hornbeck, Laura Gallagher-Doucette, Miranda Jones.
