$10k fellowship opportunity for emerging Black and/or Indigenous journalists

A new fellowship prioritizes Black and Indigenous emerging journalists and local, long-form reporting. The fellow will receive $10,000 to write two in-depth articles that will be published in both Island Press Limited, an award-winning publisher on PEI, and The Philanthropist.

This opportunity is open to current and former journalism students from the University of King’s College and Nova Scotia Community College.

The fellow will receive mentorship and networking opportunities with Black, Indigenous and other seasoned journalists, along with those who work in non-profit and charitable sectors.

The fellowship will start in March 2026 and lasts up to 12 months. The schedule is part-time and flexible.

The deadline to apply is January 23, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
