From October 17 to 19, the Blue Devils men’s basketball team, coached by Luc Stevenson, and King’s Athletics hosted the first annual Hooper Classic to honour Neil Hooper, who recently retired from his role as Athletic Director after 33 years. The tournament brought together teams from Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Maine, as well as current students, Blue Devils alumni and community members to enjoy an action-packed weekend of basketball.
“I was so impressed by the competitive teams that Luc had assembled for the event,” says Hooper. “I will never forget this kind gesture and the chance to be reacquainted with these wonderful people. Since my retirement there is not a day that goes by that I don’t think fondly on my 33 years.”
“We hope this annual event brings people together far and wide to celebrate [Hooper’s] legacy and the sport of basketball for many years to come,” says Stevenson.
