April 1 marked the end of the athletics year with students, coaches and faculty convening to toast each other’s achievements at the athletics awards banquet. At this, the 17th edition of the banquet, King’s touted 17 Academic excellence Awards, which are given to student-athletes with a GPA above 3.7. The College-wide Academic Excellence Award went to Marianna Saunders, who also received MVP honours for Women’s Volleyball.
Women’s basketball All-star and MVP Candance Reynolds received the H.L Puxley Award for Female Athlete of the Year. The E.E. Bisset Award for Male Athlete of the Year was shared by soccer’s Lauchlin Ewald and JJ Wilson of the basketball team.
Beginning with a grace from Rev. Dr. Gary Thorne, King’s remembered and felt the presence of Men’s soccer team member Aiden Harrington, who passed away this fall. The winner of the inaugural Aiden Harrington Award, given to a player on the men’s soccer team who demonstrates “Outstanding Dedication and Perseverance,” was Aiden’s teammate Josh Kester.
