Teaching Assistant in the Contemporary Studies Program (Part-time)

Established in 1789, King’s College is Canada’s oldest chartered university and is associated with Dalhousie University. The Contemporary Studies Program (CTMP) at the University of King’s College invites applications for a Teaching Assistant to handle duties in CTMP 4125.03W, “Hannah Arendt: Terror, Politics, Thought”. CTMP4125 traces Arendt’s path of thought from her early writings on totalitarianism and ideology to her more mature works on power, revolution, authority, and plurality, concluding with her profound and controversial late reflections on the life of the mind (and the “moral side effects” of thinking). The winter term runs from January 7, 2026 to April 30, 2026.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • reading course material
  • grading assignments and exams
  • attending lectures (please consult the Dalhousie Academic Timetable regarding class time)
  • consulting on a regular basis with the instructor regarding the approach taken in teaching, grading and other expectations

Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates may come from various fields but should have at least an undergraduate degree. Familiarity with the contemporary period will be considered an asset, as will prior TA experience (at the university level).

Hourly Rate of Pay: $30.05/hr (classification of TA130). Rate subject to change. Position is conditional on the course’s final enrollment numbers
