The Invasion of Ukraine

The Invasion of Ukraine

Holiday closure: The King's campus is closed from end of day December 20 to January 2.

Dear King’s community,

The invasion of Ukraine this week is alarming and distressing to us all and is undoubtedly more so for those in our wide community who identify as Ukrainian, or have other connections to Ukraine, and equally those with connections to Russia who do not support this act of aggression.

Our thoughts are with those on the ground in Ukraine. Among the many ways to take action, the Red Cross has set up a page soliciting support for the country and its refugees.

For those here who are affected, most notably our students, we remind you that King’s has professional resources and supports you can draw on, including:

  • King’s / Dal International Centre: Book an appointment or drop in to chat with an International Centre advisor.
  • The King’s website has a comprehensive list of on-campus and external supports.
  • Faculty and staff supports are available through our Employee and Family Assistance Program, which can be accessed at www.workhealthlife.com”.

For those interested, the Multifaith Centre at Dalhousie is hosting “Prayers for Peace” on Wednesday, March 2, at noon in the LeMarchant Place Atrium. This event—open to all members of the King’s and Dalhousie communities—is an opportunity to stand together on common ground and a time for contemplative reflection and prayer. More information is available through Multifaith Services and all Public Health guidelines will be adhered to on site.

Sincerely,

Bill
