Peer Academic Advisor

Aliyah Daya Aliyah Daya

I am a second-year student currently completing a Bachelor of Arts with a Combined Honours in Classics and Environment, Sustainability and Society. I moved to Halifax from Ottawa, Ontario, but was born in Abu Dhabi, and I spent about half of my life overseas. Ever since moving to Halifax last fall, I’ve been loving the city and its people.

This is my first year working as a Peer Academic Advisor, and I am thrilled to be part of the Academic Advising Team! I am so excited to support students throughout their personal and academic journeys here at King’s.

In my spare time, I like to read, go thrifting and cross-stitch. You can usually find me at home, curled up with my cat and a book or spending time with my friends!

Tip for Success: Make the most of all the services, people, and places you are paying to access! Sit in the front of class, go to your professor’s office hours, and make the most of the student services that Dal and King’s offer. It can feel scary to find and access campus resources, but they are there to help you succeed and thrive. You’re putting in the time and money to be here, so make it count!

As a Peer Academic Advisor, I can help with:

  • first- and second-year undergraduate academic advising appointments
  • course selection, scheduling and registration
  • navigating degree options and pathways
  • guidance and support with academic processes like grading policies, academic dates, withdrawals and confirmation letters
  • understanding degree requirements and where to go for departmental advising
  • information on, and direction or referral to, other student life and health/wellness supports and services
