Caora McKenna is a Halifax-based journalist. She joins King’s from The Globe and Mail, where she worked as an audience editor, reaching, growing, engaging and deepening relationships with readers. She specializes in digital optimization, SEO, news partnerships, live news, social media and breaking down complex and fast-moving news stories for readers with explainers.

Before The Globe, she worked as the city editor at The Coast, Halifax’s alt-weekly newspaper. There, she assigned, reported and edited stories about Halifax Regional Council, housing, policing and more.

Previously, she worked as an instructor with the News Workshop at King’s, launching The Signal’s TikTok channel with students in 2022.

She studied Journalism at King’s and Spanish at Dalhousie.

Interests

The internet, journalism ethics, local media, access to information, artificial intelligence and the news, delight in journalism, engagement journalism, emerging platforms and reader habits.
