Isa is a Social Worker Candidate and a graduate of Dalhousie’s Bachelor of Social Work program. They have worked with mental health organizations like Laing House and Eating Disorders Nova Scotia. They are joining the King’s community as a holistic mental health support for students. Isa is passionate about using their lived experience of mental illness to create better systems of care for students, and anyone struggling with mental health.
Isa is available to meet with students—or those concerned about a student—virtually or in person. They can help with problem solving, service navigation, or mental health support. To book an appointment, email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit calendly.com/studentsupportadvisor. If someone wants support but aren’t sure where to start, Isa is happy to bring their dog, Ollie, to campus for walks or a casual puppy hangout.
In April 2021, King’s was awarded a grant in support of this position, which will also work towards the implementation of the National Standard for Postsecondary Health and Wellness. Using this Standard, Isa will be working with all facets of the King’s community to create a unique, student-centric framework for mental health. This framework will be created and implemented collaboratively, with the goal of making holistic health support more accessible, equitable, and relevant to students.
