The University of King’s College Governor General’s Silver Medal recognizes academic and journalistic excellence. It is awarded to an undergraduate journalism student who has shown significant professional development during his, her or their time in the journalism program of the School of Journalism, Publishing and Writing and stands the highest among their peers.
The King’s Medal recognizes the graduating student who stands highest in an Honours program in an Arts or Science subject.
Established by the family and friends of Jim MacNeill, DCL’98, in recognition of his contribution to journalism and of his support for the King’s School of Journalism, Writing & Publishing and its students, this award is bestowed annually during Encaenia to a deserving graduating journalism student who epitomizes the skills and dedications to the principles of public service journalism practised by MacNeill during his lifetime.
University medals are granted by each program in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences to the student with the highest grade. The following King’s students are recipients of this year’s medals.
