UKC Athletics Announces Limited Reopening of Gym

Please note that only King’s students, staff and faculty are currently permitted into the facility. Anyone wishing to book time in the cardio and weight rooms is asked to please read the safety protocol fact sheet and fill out the online check-in form prior to any appointment.

Cardio and Weight Room

The King’s Gym is open with extended hours for cardio and weight room bookings from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 2 – 8 p.m.

Each appointment will be 45 minutes in length, to allow for proper cleaning between bookings.  Students must not enter the building without an appointment.

Anyone wishing to book time in the gym is asked to please read the safety protocol fact sheet and fill out the online check-in form prior to any appointment.

If you are a current King’s student, staff or faculty member and you wish to book weekend or weekday time on the gym floor, please send an email request to: athletics@ukings.ca.

Each appointment will be 45 minutes in length. Groups of up to five individuals may be accommodated in a single booking. Email requests for group appointments should list the names of all attendees.

Anyone who books an appointment is asked to please respect the designated booking time, and to clean all used equipment before the 45-minute booking has ended.

Bookings may be made up to 6 hours in advance. If you cannot attend your appointment, please cancel no later than 12 hours prior to your booking.   Three missed appointments will result in a suspension from the facility.

Fitness at King’s

We offer:

  • a 2,500 square-foot fitness studio perfect for dance, aerobics and self-defence classes.
  • fitness centre, with state-of-the-art cardio equipment, including treadmills, elliptical trainers, upright and recumbent bikes, rowing machines, a stair climber and a cross trainer.
  • floating hardwood floor gymnasium
  • weight room, including a full range of free-weight and universal-strength training options.

Fitness at Dalhousie

Through our partnership with Dalhousie University, you can access Dalhousie athletic facilities with your King’s ID. The Dalplex is a multi-purpose athletics centre featuring:

  • a gymnasium
  • an Olympic-sized pool
  • a running track
  • a rock-climbing wall
  • tennis, racquetball, beach volleyball and squash courts
  • a weight training area

King’s students can also access Wickwire field, an astro-turf stadium, and participate in fitness classes and intramural programs offered at Dalhousie.

Community Membership

Due to the ongoing pandemic, King’s will not be offering community memberships at this time. We hope to continue the service in the future.

A four-month membership is only $130 plus HST.

  • January 1st-April 30th
  • May 1st to August 31st
  • September 1st to December 31st

Privileges include access to cardio and weight rooms 7 days a week; discounted rates on gymnasium and studio rentals. Call Tami Kendell at the King’s Bursar’s office: 902-422-1270 Ext. 125.
