Teaching Assistant in the History of Science and Technology Program—part-time, summer

The History of Science and Technology Program (HOST) at the University of King’s College invites applications for a Teaching Assistant to handle duties in HSTC 2400, Science in the Media. (Note: This course is cross listed in the JOUR 2400, Science in the Media.) HSTC 2400 is an interdisciplinary course which examines how various media forms have been crucial to the success and spread of science, focusing on scientists’ use of the media and the ways the media represents science and scientists. This course will be held online, running from May 11 to August 11, 2026.

Duties include but not limited to:

• reading or viewing course material
• grading assignments, discussion posts and quizzes
• holding office hours and ensuring an online presence to assist students with assignments
• consulting on a regular basis with the instructor regarding the approach taken in teaching, grading and other expectations

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates may come from various fields but should have at least an undergraduate degree. Prior TA experience (at the university level) will be considered an asset.

Hourly Rate of Pay: $34.00/hour (classification of TA130). Position is conditional on the course’s final enrollment numbers.
