Varsity Head Coach – Women’s Soccer

Summary of the role

The UKC Athletics Department is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to lead our women’s varsity soccer program as the Head Coach. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for soccer, a commitment to the development of student-athletes and the ability to foster a positive team culture both on and off the court. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our student-athletes while contributing to the overall success of our athletic program.

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Establish, reinforce and sustain a positive, inclusive and accountable team culture that promotes cohesion, leadership, respect and sportsmanship.
  • Promote academic success, good sportsmanship, leadership and character development among student athletes.
  • Plan, organize and conduct regular practices, training sessions and team activities.
  • Provide individualized instruction, skill development and constructive feedback.
  • Prepare game plans and competitive strategies, including opponent scouting, film analysis and player evaluation.
  • Lead team meetings, film sessions and other program related activities.
  • Cultivate a sustainable recruitment and player development strategy to maintain competitive parity.
  • Monitor and support student athletes academic progress in collaboration with academic staff.
  • Assemble, supervise and evaluate the women’s soccer coaching staff.
  • Collaborate with Athletics Department staff and university administrators.
  • Manage team logistics in partnership with the Athletics Department, including scheduling, travel, equipment and budget oversight.
  • Uphold and enforce all university, conference and league policies, rules and regulations.
  • Engage in fundraising initiatives and alumni relations, working collaboratively with the Athletics Department and Alumni Office.
  • Represent the university and athletics program with professionalism and integrity.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends during the academic year. Peak workload during the competitive season, with emphasis on September and October.

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience coaching as an Assistant or Head Coach with a proven track record of success. Coaching experience at a post-secondary institution would be considered an asset. Previous experience coaching Women’s sport considered an asset.
  • Proof of Canada Soccer certification and commitment to obtain increased coaching education and upgrades upon hire.
  • CPR/First Aid or willingness to obtain upon hire.
  • Experience as a varsity athlete and working experience in an Athletics Department considered an asset.
