Course Reserves

Professors teaching courses at King’s can place books, articles and audio/visual materials on reserve for students to consult.

For Students

Reserves are given loan periods ranging from two hours to seven days. The Novanet Catalogue has a Reserves tab near the top of the screen. The reserves module is used to obtain the call number and students can search by course number, name, professor or title. Overdue reserve items are fined at a higher rate. Please check the reserve slip in the back of each item for the applicable fine rate.

For Faculty

Any faculty member teaching a course at King’s may place items on reserve for that course. Requests can include any required readings that you may wish to have available on short-term loan in the Library, as well as supporting literature for the courses. Any books not available in our Library can be borrowed from other Novanet libraries to be placed on reserve.

Please note the following:

  • Reserve requests for books that are in the Library should be submitted two weeks prior to the beginning of the class.
  • Reserve requests for books that will need to be ordered for the Library must be submitted eight weeks prior to the beginning of the class.
  • A minimum of two business days is required for processing any items added to an existing list during the course of the term.
  • Items that need to be obtained from other Novanet Libraries require an additional five business days for processing.
  • Articles may be placed on reserve for a course. For copyright purposes, these copies must not exceed 10% of a published work.
