A Personal Display Parchment is a document that serves as a non-legal parchment designed exclusively for display purposes. It is available for graduates of degree programs. Students who request personal display parchments will still receive their degree parchment at Encaenia of their graduating year and it is not meant to replace your regular parchment.
Reasons for requesting a personal display parchment
To display your academic achievements:
- in multiple locations (e.g., multiple professional offices). Unlike official parchments, students can request multiple personal display parchments.
- with your chosen name
- with your name displayed in a non-Latin alphabet or logographic language (e.g., Arabic, Chinese, etc.)
Use of Personal Display Parchments
- The personal display parchment is intended solely for display purposes and is not a legal document.
- The personal display parchment are used exclusively for the purpose of showcasing academic achievements achieved by the individual named on the parchment. Any use beyond this intended purpose is strictly prohibited.
- Information submitted for inclusion on the personal display parchment will only include names.
Non-legal status
- This parchment cannot be used or verified by the institution for employment purposes, licensing bodies, student loan issuers or for other educational institution purposes.
- All personal display parchments will contain a notation that it is not a legal document and is for display purposes only.
Service fee: $50
While it is our expectation that students pay the required fee for this service, we recognize that unforeseen challenges can arise. In such cases, we’ve established a process through which to evaluate accommodations on a case-by-case basis. Please contact registrar@ukings.ca with your query and our team will assess it considering the unique circumstances presented. It’s important to provide accurate and detailed information to support your request.
Deadline to request a personal display parchment for graduating students
Spring Graduation–March 31
Fall Graduation–August 31
Graduating students will receive their personal display parchment along with their official parchment.
Requests submitted by graduating students after the deadline will be processed approximately four weeks after the conclusion of convocation ceremonies.
Deadline to request a personal display parchment for alumni
Alumni can submit their request at any time. Processing typically requires four weeks, but there may be further delays in processing your request during peak convocation periods (May/June).
How to request a personal display parchment as a King’s Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Music or Master’s graduate
Requesting a personal display parchment is a two-step process:
- Submit the online request form
- Submit the service fee payment through Dalhousie’s UStore. A link to the UStore will be provided once the online request form is submitted.

- Submit the service fee payment to King’s Student Accounts. Payment is accepted in-person in Student Accounts Office, 2nd floor of the Arts & Administration Building, or via telephone at 902-422-1271.
