This course will expand on the basics of photojournalism and will explore more advanced topics such as spot news, event coverage, sports photography, portraiture, photo essays and DSLR video production. Throughout the term students will build and create a professional portfolio of their work, which will be reviewed and curated in collaboration with mentors in the photojournalism community. Students are required to have access to a DSLR camera for the duration of this class.FORMAT: LecturePREREQUISITES: Introduction to Photojournalism JOUR 3660 or Introduction to Visual Storytelling JOUR 2702, or instructor’s permission.
