Students will learn how the editorial planning process works, understand the inter-relationships between the editorial and business side of magazine publishing, and created the content for one issue of the magazine their team has conceptualized and executed.

By the time students finish the magazine workshop, they will have an overview of how the editorial planning process works, both in theory and in practice. The will understand the inter-relationships between the editorial and business side of magazine publishing. And they will have created the content for one issue of the magazine their team has conceptualized and executed.

For the first two weeks, time will be spent in lectures and workshops geared to equipping students with the skills needed to complete group assignments, a number of which will be due during that time. Those assignments will take students through the thinking and planning required for the production process that follows: four intensive weeks of creating the content to fill the pages of their magazines. The workshop culminates in a presentation day, where all the teams will present their finished products to their King’s classmates, instructors and members of the local media community.
