Through a series of case studies, it examines the development medical theories, technologies, practices, and institutions in their cultural contexts. paying close attention to the intersection of healthcare with colonialism, war, humanitarianism, immigration, public health and education policies, etc., while analysing how medicine has shaped our discourse on health, gender, race, disability, class, etc.
