Welcome Day is an exciting day on campus! Every year we look forward to welcoming our new and returning students to King’s to embark on another year of learning and growth!

Welcome Day Schedule

8:30 a.m.–11 a.m. | Residence Move-In

  1. All Residents will receive a move in time slot via email in late July/early August
    1. Check your dal.ca email (non-King’s residents, check the email account for your school) for your move in time slot. Plan to arrive within that window of time.
  1. Ensure you have completed the Move-in Checklist prior to your arrival:
    1. Upload a profile photo to your eRezLife Account
    2. Sign off on the Residence Agreement
    3. Sign off on the Residence Guidelines
    4. Select your meal plan via eRezLife

Complete the above checklist before you arrive to speed up your check-in experience!

Residents who have not completed this checklist by the time they arrive to check in will need to stop at an additional station before they receive their key package.

  1. When you arrive at campus, head to Prince Hall to visit our residence check-in stations where students can pick up their residence key packages.
  1. Due to space limitations, most people moving in will not be able to park in the Quad parking lot. Residents and/or their Parents/Supporters can park their vehicles in the designated parking areas located just outside of King’s campus. Security staff will be onsite to guide folks to the designated parking areas.

Our Residence Dons will be around to welcome you to their communities!

There will also be a “Residence Help Desk” where staff will be available to answer any questions you have. This station will be in front of Cochran Bay and the campus Chapel.

Residence Check-In will close from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. so any remaining keys can be relocated to the Alex Hall Front Desk.

If you are planning to move in after 11 a.m., you will be able to pick up your key packages from the Alex Hall Front Desk starting at 11:30 a.m. There is a buzzer button at the front door that will connect to the Front Desk staff. Inform them you are here to check in, and they will unlock the main door for you.

The Student Accounts Office will be open from 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Hop up to their office on the 2nd floor of the Arts & Administration Building (A&A), to say hi to Sharlene and learn more about your student account and payment options!

The KSU O-Week Team and Executive Team will be around to help folks move in, play some great music, set students up with their O-Week packages and more!

11 a.m.–12:45 p.m. | Welcome BBQ in Quad

Enjoy a free Welcome Day BBQ. Vegetarian/Vegan options available.

1 p.m. | Welcoming Ceremonies on Library Steps

Join us near the Library Steps for a warm welcome to Mi’kma’ki & King’s.

2 p.m. | Parents & Supporters’ Q&A Panel with campus leaders in Prince Hall

This event is for parents and supporters and will end around 3 p.m. This is a great opportunity for parents to ask about a range of topics like academics, campus safety, healthcare, paying tuition and student fees, student supports, student life and more!

Students will be with the KSU for the remainder of the afternoon and residence students will be with their Dons for dinner and their first community gathering meeting around 5 p.m. evening.

After this event, parents and supporters are welcome to check out the Parent/Supporters Resources Table on the first floor of the New Academic Building or explore the city!

2 p.m. | KSU Kicks off Orientation Week in Alumni Hall (Students Only)

This event is a warm welcome for our new students from the King’s Student Union. Learn all about the KSU, Orientation Week and get to know your KSU Executive Team!

2:30 p.m. | Campus Tours by the KSU (Students Only)

The KSU and the O-Week Team will split students into smaller groups to go on a tour of King’s campus with some stops at key student service locations on Dal campus.

5 p.m.–7 p.m. | Residence Students meet with their Dons in Residence and then enjoy dinner together in Prince Hall

Residence students will meet their Residence Dons at a pre-advertised location to either go to dinner or have a quick community gathering meeting. These community gathering meetings contain important residence information that all residents should know to get through their first few weeks of life in residence.

The Bays & Angels’ Roost will go to dinner at 5 p.m. while Alex Hall residents will go to a community gathering meeting. Around 5:45 p.m. they will switch. This helps stagger the crowd for dinner meaning a shorter wait time for food!

7 p.m. | KSU Orientation Evening Event!
