Jane Doucet to launch first novel in Halifax

Jane Doucet (BJH ’93) has written her first novel, The Pregnant Pause, about a married woman who is turning 37 and trying to decide whether or not to have a baby. The launch party will be held on June 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Room 301-A at the Halifax Central Library, where the books will be sold at a slight discount, for $15 (cash only).

“I wrote my novel to empower women who assumed they’d have children but, for whatever reason, it didn’t happen,” says Jane. “It’s really for everyone, though—women and men, parents and non-parents—because it’s about relationships with romantic partners, family, friends and coworkers. People will be able to relate to different parts of the story.” For more information about the novel, visit thepregnantpause.net.

In addition to Jane’s creative writing and freelance projects, she has been working as a communications specialist at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University since August 2015.
