HOST receives the MacLennan Lecture

Holiday closure: The King's campus is closed from end of day December 20 to January 2.

Dr. Melanie Frappier, HOST Programme Director, is thrilled by Ms. MacLennan’s generous gift. “Oriel MacLennan reminds us of the vital role humanities must play as we address, as a society, the multifaceted issues raised by the rapid developments in science, technology, and medicine. What better way to remember someone’s passion than by igniting it in others?”

Thanks to Oriel MacLennan, a life-long enthusiast of the history of science, the MacLennan Lecture offers students, researchers and the public a unique opportunity to discuss pressing issues in science and medicine with some of today’s most innovative historians and philosophers of science. The newly minted MacLennan Lecture will fund a visiting scholar to present a public lecture in the field of Science and Technology Studies or in History and Philosophy of Science. King’s students will also have the opportunity to spend time with the visiting lecturer in a seminar setting.
