Update: Monday, Sept. 9, 2019 – 6:57 p.m.: King’s as well as Dalhousie’s Halifax and Truro campuses will reopen on Tuesday, September 10. Classes are proceeding as scheduled for students.
Dear King’s Community,
As Nova Scotia braces for the arrival of Hurricane Dorian this weekend, please be advised that King’s campus will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 7 and Sunday, Sept. 8. This means that while residences and dining hall (Prince Hall) will remain open and fully operational, buildings such as the gym, library, chapel and classrooms will be temporarily closed.
King’s events including the soccer home openers are cancelled and will be rescheduled. If the neighbourhood experiences a power outage, King’s generator should keep the school powered throughout the storm (with the exception of the library) and meals will continue to be served in Prince Hall. Security will be on site throughout the weekend, monitoring the situation and maintaining frequent contact with the Facilities Management staff.
King’s follows Dalhousie University’s closure protocols during storms and will reopen when Dalhousie reopens. We strongly recommend you sign up for the DalSAFE mobile app to receive notifications.
If you live on King’s campus, here are things you can do to prepare and stay safe:
If you live off-campus, please follow the HRM Emergency Preparedness guidelines for city residents.
All students, please make sure your contact information for King’s is up to date:
Halifax weather updates can be accessed through Environment Canada.
Thank you for understanding and please stay safe.
